Ace tone Fuzz Master FM 1 power question

Postby wtwu » Sat Aug 10, 2013 9:30 pm

This was a garage sale find... found that after removing corrosion of 20yo batteries, after soldering on new terminals, two AA batteries can't activate the unit. If we bypass in with a 9v, it works great. Schematics clearly state 3.5v

Anyone know anything about this unit? Will that fry the innards?

Could always use a 9v going straight in to a voltage divider made from 2 resistors to get around 3.5v. Bit crude but it would work.

Maybe check the rating on the caps... I'd be surprised if anything in there couldn't take 9v though. It will most likely sound a bit different at 9v
